...involves making the 75 mile trek to Capitola, a seaside town where a "check-your-troubles-at-the-door" mentality abides*.
Some shrewd social engineering led to us getting a place right near the beach for two nights. Depending on when attendance was taken, up to eleven people resided with our group at the hummus-colored unit in the front row of the Venetian rental complex.
Despite the cramped quarters, spirits were high the whole weekend, and many good memories were forged. An observant stroll down the dock will reveal how dear Capitola was to many former visitors; a number of eloquent in memoriam plaques adorn the guardrails.
Our group shared breakfast together at Zelda's before leaving on Monday. I requested a coloring set from the waitress and produced a work that new friend of the blog (and actual art teacher) Jenny graded an F.
After all of that, San Francisco beckoned. Back in the city Monday evening, I decompressed as fireworks exploded over the water near my building.
*Some days are for getting by. Some days are for living.
