Untitled

Before I lost you to the past
With other things that wouldn't last
I owed you mention fair
Though mainly used, my memory
To tally mediocrity
I'd one day keep you there

It ranks an agonizing flaw
To place the golden times we saw
With recollections duller
Reminder served when I look back
At memories in white and black
And see you there in color

Better if it wasn't so
If seven lesser years ago
My mind did not install
A home for you that isn't just
Yet hold you dearly there I must
Or no place else at all
