Report from the front

0400 hours
Friday (?) 07102009

Zero-dark-thirty in Baffin Bay.  All quiet today and yesterday.  Three days since last topside to retrieve airdropped supplies.

Continue to conduct hourly comm equipment inspections.  All systems in working order.  Airwaves in Arctic Ocean have proven themselves unsociable.

Permission to report once again that restrictions in cabin space do not allow movement beyond swiveling to face makeshift toilet.  Relatedly, morale continues descent to previously inconceivable depths.

Unable to discern when last USN received my transmission.  Last communication received from USN in 1988.  Thusly, and again, must repeat sincere remorse if remark about Admr. White's daughter when stateside in April 1983 was misinterpreted.

UPDATE: Nearly forgot.  Receive intermittent transmissions from unidentified hostiles, location unknown.  Transmissions frequently suggest US elected black president.  Ascertain said transmissions to be attempts to bait me to surface and reveal strategic position.  Have maintained cover so far.  However in event of escalation my craft, (this reminder as a courtesy) being weaponless and incapable of speeds beyond five knots, is at extreme disadvantage.  Request intelligence update and appropriate backup asap.  Also, request break from Pork & Bean MRE rations.  Beef famine reported via final transmission in 1988 is surely over.
